Who is? We Are!
Even the coldest temperatures couldn’t stop our program from making the hypothetical lemonade this past weekend. In all honestly, it was only Friday afternoon and Saturday’s weather that presented the truest character and constitution revealing qualities. Aided by the ever efficient Lift 4, we managed to “train” or further temper our hardiness both Friday and Saturday. The cold weather aside, the super soft snow presented its own challenging situation and highlighted once again how skiing and ski racing requires constant analysis and adjustment to make it work.
Sunday proved to be the queen offering for the weekend as the sun brought temperatures out of the basement and allowed for easier glove-free maneuvers (adjusting helmet straps, fixing gate panels…you know, the little things). With that, our skiers pounced around the mountain as the groomers (hello porkie!) were exceptional…and the human-groomin’ terrain was good too. Our HS, U10s and U8s(!!!) capitalized on the terrain offered on the Practice Slope for some GS and turn shape and our U14s represented us at Smuggs for their first race of the season, a Panel SL.
This coming week we will offer GS training on Thursday evening at Bolton from 4:30-6:30. Please bring $15 for a training ticket and see coach Carolyn Stone. We are watching the weather and should it deteriorate, we’ll notify all via TeamSnap. On Friday, we’ll have GS training at Mad River Glen from 1:30-3:30; please see coach Jim Komarmi. Please check TeamSnap as to your individual team’s training schedule for Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday evening, there is a team lasagna dinner courtesy of the Mad River Ski Club (5pm, please RVSP via the MRSC team in TeamSnap). And on Monday, we’ll host the 71st Annual running of the Family Tournament. All are encouraged to race (free to club members).
Have a great week and enjoy the moderate temps!
